Mumbai Shames Humanity as Private Company Employee Arrested for Sexual Harassment of Female Colleague; Parallel Crackdowns in Nashik and Court Proceedings in Nida Khan Case

Mumbai Police arrested Ashraf, a private company employee, for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing a female colleague through obscene messages and pressure for physical relations. Separate Nashik cases involve ATS detentions and court proceedings against Nida Khan, with hearings scheduled for April 27 amid ongoing investigations.

A deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Mumbai, where a man has been accused of harassing and misbehaving with a female colleague, prompting swift police action and his arrest. The case has sparked widespread discussion following allegations of repeated sexual harassment and stalking within a private company setting.

According to Mumbai Police, Ashraf, an employee of a private company, has been detained in connection with the case. He is accused of repeatedly sending obscene messages to a female co-worker and stalking her. A senior police officer stated that the victim works as a third-party telecaller in a private institution, and the accused is also employed in the same company.

The complaint in the matter was filed on Thursday (23 April), following which a case was registered under sections 75 (sexual harassment), 78(2) (stalking), and 79 (insult to the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Action has also been taken under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

As per the victim’s statement, the accused repeatedly pressured her for a physical relationship, sent objectionable images, and used obscene and derogatory language regarding other female colleagues. The complaint further states that after obtaining her contact number, the accused began harassing her continuously from 21 April, sending repeated text and voice messages and pressuring her for physical relations.

Meanwhile, in another legal development connected to Nashik, the court has refused interim relief to accused Nida Khan. Her anticipatory bail hearing has been adjourned until 27 April. Her lawyer had sought interim protection, but the court declined immediate relief and granted time to the complainant to submit a written response, due to which no urgent relief was provided.

Advocate Milind Kurkute, appearing for Nida Khan, stated that no interim relief has been granted so far. He added that they are representing the original complainant’s case and have requested permission to submit their arguments in writing. The court has accepted the request, and the next hearing has been scheduled for 27 April, where arguments from both investigating agencies and the complainant will be heard.

The developments across Mumbai and Nashik highlight ongoing serious criminal investigations and judicial proceedings, underscoring intensified enforcement actions and close judicial scrutiny in sensitive cases involving harassment, alleged coercion, and workplace misconduct.
